Job Summary
Step up your skills! As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician II, you'll dive into troubleshooting, process optimization, and equipment improvements. You'll play a key role in boosting production efficiency and guiding junior technicians, all while keeping safety and quality top of mind.
What you will do:
Conduct reactive audits to address supplier-related issues in machine shops, ensuring quality standards are met
Perform OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) inspections and communicate findings to the Materials team
Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles and gaging techniques effectively
Calibrate, set, and master hand gaging tools for accurate measurements
Collaborate with Operations, Supplier Quality, and Engineering teams to communicate audit findings and drive improvements
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
Analyze and interpret CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) reports for compliance and precision
Understand and apply guidelines outlined in MQ4006/7/8 standards
Assist Supplier Quality Engineers in calculating and applying PPM (Parts Per Million) and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) metrics according to corporate standards
Process internal facility scrap and supplier scrap in MAMM and PLEX systems, following corporate procedures
Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy in PLEX and MAMM scrap systems.
Calculate and report monthly supplier performance metrics to track and improve quality.
Coordinate and facilitate foundry rework activities
Perform PMA (Process Monitoring Audit) reviews focused on rework, non-conforming material (NCM), and out-of-process issues
Support both San Antonio and Schertz facilities in all responsibilities
Handle additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned
What you will have:
Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience or a 2-year degree in lieu of experience
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and reviewing 3D models
Experience in assembly processes, and best practices, test processes and validation to manufacture products
Prior experience with basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gages)
Intermediate experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong verbal and written communication skills
What would make you a top candidate:
Intermediate level proficiency using ERP/PLM systems such as PLEX, Teamcenter, and MAMM system
Familiarity using data collection systems such as Quality WorX and Tools Talk
Experience with Six Sigma/Lean as either a contributing team member or possessing a Green Belt Certification
Experience in quality control within a metal or alloy manufacturing facility
Experience with diesel engine assembly experience in a leadership type role (team lead, project lead, lean lead)
Ability to be a self-starter, the aptitude to learn, and have attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
