The employee will be assigned to the Department of Health Informatics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they will function as a Research Scientist responsible for investigating, developing, and implementing health technology solutions for Healthy Home Laboratory (HHL) and mobile health technology tailored for individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities for the Health & Rehabilitation Informatics (HARI) Laboratory. This role will focus on leveraging Internet of Things (IoT), telehealth, digital health, mHealth, and Generative AI to design and implement transformative solutions aimed at enhancing the quality of life and independence of older adults and individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities.
As part of their duties, the employee is responsible for designing, and executing research projects at Healthy Home and HARI Labs, developing robust methodologies, assessing project requirements, and implementing full-stack technology solutions. They contribute to the dissemination of research findings.
Job Summary
Conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates project development in collaboration with other specialists.
Essential Functions
Evaluate smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies that can support aging in place at the Healthy Home Lab.
Conduct research within HARI Lab aimed in the areas of digital interventions for individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities.
Develop robust methodologies for data collection, analysis, and interpretation to support digital interventional research.
Conduct thorough assessments of project requirements and translate them into actionable software designs and solutions.
Implement technology solutions to support digital intervention research, including mobile health app and web-portal.
Monitor project progress and proactively identify and address any issues or challenges that may arise during the research and development process.
Collaborate closely with university personnel and external partners to coordinate research activities, and facilitate effective communication and collaboration among team members, Principal Investigators, and other stakeholders to drive project success.
Contribute to the development of research grants and proposals.
Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through publication in scientific journals and presentation at conferences, advancing knowledge in the field of rehabilitation science and health technology.
Keep up to date with recent scientific and research developments.
Recommend, draft, and manage laboratory policies and procedures.
Facilitate work and project development in collaboration with other industry and academic specialists.
