  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three years' work experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility, including Supervisory experience.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (I.T.A.R.) which requires U.S. persons status. ITAR defines U.S. persons as U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or refugee;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Direct experience execution lean manufacturing/continuous improvement initiative; including Kaizen projects;
  • Five years work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational/time management skills
  • Material Resource Planning
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt;
  • Experience working with lean manufacturing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED

  • Ability to stand/walk for several hours each day;
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25lbs on occasion;
  • This is not a temperature-controlled work environment;
  • May be required to wear PPE including eye and hearing protection, metatarsal safety boots

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions/guidelines.

The Manufacturing Manager Midnight shift position is responsible for providing leadership in manufacturing excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of plant performance measurements (quality, productivity, cycle time, delivery and cash flow). This position provides direction for hourly and manufacturing support employees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow Howmet's Safety Regulations and work Rules Handbook along with all department specific safety requirements.
  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Ensures that department goals such as TRR, LU, OEE, Variable Cost per hr, etc are forecasted, measured and that there is continuous improvement being made to improve.
  • Forecasts labor and equipment needs based on long term forecast.
  • Ensures that employees (direct reports) have proper training and tools needed to succeed.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products and services in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Directs, supervises, leads and coaches direct reports (area leaders).
  • Maintains quality and reduces inventory levels and lead times.
  • Analyzes schedules, production reports make, adjustments if necessary.
  • Provide leadership for lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Participates and owns safety and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Use lean manufacturing tools to reduce WIP and cycle time.
  • Understand constraint management, OEE and apply techniques that exploit constraints to OEE.
  • Prepares performance reviews for direct reports and reviews indirect reports reviews.
  • Improve product flow and/or implement method improvements to reduce labor content.
  • Develop with plant manager and staff budget, strategic plans, team goals and objectives that align with business objectives.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Able to address employee concerns or issues.
