Baer is looking for a Database Administrator DBA for a 12+ month Federal remote project.

Description:
Manage and maintain relational databases across an RDS environment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and availability.
Oversee the database conversion from Oracle DB to Postgres in an AWS RDS environment.
Ensure databases are secure, performing regular audits, applying patches, and maintaining compliance with security best practices.
Participate in database design, including schema design, data normalization, and ER diagram creation.
Assist in designing and implementing efficient database structures and optimizing them for performance and scalability.
Optimize indexing strategies, and enhance database performance through various techniques.
Analyze and resolve performance issues through query tuning, profiling, and other performance monitoring tools.
Implement and enforce database security measures, including user authentication/authorization, encryption, and access controls.
Collaborate with security teams to implement industry standards and best practices for database security.
Develop and implement automation scripts for database tasks such as backups, performance monitoring, and maintenance.
Automate routine database operations to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Manage and optimize cloud databases, with experience in cloud platforms like AWS RDS (Relational Database Service) being a key responsibility.
Configure, scale, and troubleshoot databases in a cloud environment while maintaining best practices for availability, reliability, and cost optimization.
Plan and execute data migrations, including the design and implementation of ETL processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate databases with data warehousing, analytics, and reporting systems.
Work closely with developers, system architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that database architecture supports business requirements.
Provide detailed documentation for all database-related processes, configurations, and maintenance procedures.
Requirements:
2+ years of hands-on experience in Database Administration and Database Development.
Strong experience working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
Experience working with cloud-based databases, specifically AWS RDS or other cloud platforms.
Proficiency in ER Diagrams, Data Normalization, and relational database design.
Expertise in writing efficient SQL queries, query tuning, indexing strategies, and database optimization techniques.
Solid knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, performance monitoring, and high availability configurations.
Hands-on experience in database security, including authentication/authorization, encryption, and access controls.
Experience in writing and automating scripts for database maintenance and administrative tasks (e.g., using Bash, Python, SQL scripts).
Familiarity with data migration strategies and ETL processes, as well as integration with data warehousing solutions.
