Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector performs quality control inspections on heavy highway civil scopes. Responsible for quality control acceptance and/or rejection of work performed in a particular discipline to verify compliance with applicable codes and/or specifications as dictated by quality programs and/or contract documents and specifications. The Quality Control Inspector shall be knowledgeable in the following scopes of construction inspection:
Soil Inspection: Experience with the placement, moisture conditioning and compaction of soils. Soil stabilization, underpinning and nailing. Placement of filter fabrics and drainage systems.
Drilled Shaft Inspection: Experience with observation of drilled shaft excavations, reinforcing and concrete placement.
Concrete Inspection: Experience with placement and consolidation of structural concrete elements.
Structural Inspection: Experience with placement of reinforcing steel and embedment.
Must be able to work in elevated areas and around heavy equipment. Must have knowledge of TxDOT specifications and be able read and interpret drawings, details, submittals, work plans and manufacture specifications. Must be able to use measuring tools. Must be able to write and submit reports daily.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspections of wall construction and determine conformance with contract documents.
Document daily observations through detailed reporting and photos.
Verifies onsite received materials meet contract specific requirements. Ensures materials are stored in compliance with contract documents.
Communicate with others regarding inspections results and recommend corrective procedures.
Participate in activities to support the company's strategic planning efforts.
Participate in the implementation of Quality Control Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
Perform control measuring and manage testing / sampling.
Verify the installation of the systems and materials and in accordance with the assigned discipline.
Collaborates with operations to produce task specific quality management plans.
Ensures that deficient items are being reported, tracked and corrected.
Knowledgeable of TxDOT, ASTM Standards, and ACI Standards.
Minimum Job Requirements
Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc.
Two years of construction related experience
Minimum one year in quality control inspection discipline
HS Degree Required
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid drivers license, maintain a clean driving record
