The Shop Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the shop and is responsible for conducting business in a manner that compliments Wagner’s Core Values, Statement of Purpose, and safety policies.
Pay Rate: $69,193.31-$94,822.28 annually.
Pay is based upon experience and education.
Essential Functions:

Supervises the day-to-day operations of the shop, including job assignments for Technicians
Consults with manager to reach agreement on annual objectives, and carries out programs to meet these objectives
Develops and manages annual shop budget
Provides adequate reports as needed for Sales, Engineering, and other areas of the company
Initiates and closes all shop work orders as necessary and ensures maintenance of all relevant files and data
Monitors and ensures Work In Progress (WIP) is being completed within specified time frames
Insures that customers are informed of the progress of the WIP, receive and approve updated quotes, and that the invoice is an accurate reflection of the final quote
Works closely with Manager in the development and implementation of policies pertaining to the production operation
Plans short and long-term requirements on equipment and facilities, and makes recommendations to Manager
Maintains positive control on all house and service accounts
Audits and follows correct procedures for expense accounts
Audits and follows correct procedures for the procurement of tools and supplies
Ensures shop is maintained in a clean and safe manner
Handles and executes warranty in the best interest of the company
Provides and maintains safety equipment
Oversees implementation of safety programs and safety training
Sets standards for and enforces contamination control efforts
Where applicable, establishes and maintains close relationships with Sales and Engineering personnel of Wagner Power Systems on projects
Maintains quality control over all projects
Participates in emergency / on call rotation with other managers
Works closely with internal customers to ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost effective manner
Maintains knowledge and understanding of products
Designs installation of, and purchases, equipment for accessories on some projects
Where applicable, inspects and verifies functionality and serviceability for all projects and works with Engineering if changes are required

Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
Some college or trade school preferred
8 years in a responsible position within the heavy equipment service industry
3-5 years administrative/clerical
5+ years customer service experience
1-3 years sales experience
3-5 years supervisory/management experience
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Depending on location, may oversee some or all of the following: Journeyman, Class A, B, C Technicians and Welders, Shop Leads, Assistant Shop Manager, Service Clerks, Utility Workers, Inspector, Service Writers, and Senior Apprentices
Hires, trains, and directs a working staff sufficient to efficiently perform the highest amount of service work
Provides on-going performance feedback, and conducts timely special and annual performance reviews, making recommendations for status or salary adjustments
Ensures service personnel coverage on weekends, holidays, and for emergency service work
Works with Wagner Training Institute to assess and meet training needs for employees

Safety & Product Knowledge
Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, etc.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Intermediate knowledge of DMS and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW
