Position Overview

This role provides an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in accounting and grant management while growing your career. Reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting, the Senior Grant Accountant will oversee the fiscal and administrative functions of a diverse portfolio of contracts and grants. This position offers a fixed hybrid schedule following the completion of training/probation, requiring two on-site workdays per week.



Primary Responsibilities



  • Oversee the fiscal and administrative aspects of various contracts and grants.

  • Reconcile program and grant general ledgers, prepare necessary corrections, and ensure compliance with GAAP, Federal OMB, and grant/contract standards.

  • Maintain compliance with grant and contract agreements, while enhancing internal controls, systems, processes, and protocols.

  • Prepare and submit grant/contract billings and Payment Management System drawdowns according to agreement terms.

  • Prepare and submit fiscal reports such as FFR reports for federal grants, Payment Management System Quarterly reports, Cost Reports, and Financial Status Reports.

  • Oversee Time and Effort reporting, including reviewing and preparing journal entries for salary distribution adjustments.

  • Collaborate with Grants Team, Program Directors, and Coordinators on budget planning, grant proposals, analysis, modifications, and matching requirements for contracts and grants.

  • Coordinate and support audits, reviews, and site visits by sponsoring agencies and independent auditors, including preparation of SEFA and related schedules for A-133 audits.

  • Contribute to process improvement as part of the Grants Protocol Team, ensuring effective systems for grants accounting and compliance.

  • Conduct fiscal audits and reviews on grant subcontractors to ensure adherence to compliance standards.

  • Develop and deliver fiscal grant reporting and compliance training for relevant stakeholders.

  • Participate in meetings, reporting, and other special projects as needed.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience in fund or nonprofit accounting, including managing multiple government-funded programs.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles (healthcare accounting experience is a plus).

  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and Logic Functions.

  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage Intacct, Blackbaud Financial Edge, MAS 90, NetSuite, or Oracle.

  • Strong mathematical accuracy, analytical skills, organizational ability, and the capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player.

  • Excellent skills in analyzing and communicating complex issues clearly.


Preferred Qualifications



  • MBA or CPA credential.
