The purpose of this position is to contribute to the continued improvement of efficient, effective, and appropriate functioning of financial operations within the School of Education by coordinating procurement, inventory tracking, and reconciliation for SOE grants, as well as foundation and local indexes. The incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented presence with faculty, staff, and campus personnel, while ensuring all financial controls and university financial policies are followed. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
* Provide overall financial services for SOE contract and grant indices and backup support for other School of Education indices.
* Apply basic accounting principles, appropriate internal controls, state and federal laws as well as local regulations and policies.
* Assist Grants Fiscal and Business Manager in budgeting balances & forecast future needs.
* Coordinate with principal investigators, OSP and other university offices to provide excellent financial support and ensure the timely, efficient and accurate processing of post-award expenditures.
* Assist with grant fiscal close out in conjunction with OSP.
* Code, process, copy and file invoices.
* Code and administer small purchase credit card or other similar purchasing methods.
* Perform monthly reconciliations.
* Purchase goods and services.
* Other projects as assigned by supervisor in support of the financial operations team.
* This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

* Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education & experience
* Demonstrated experience in processing transactions where detail-oriented approach is required
* Intermediate level proficiency with excel
* Demonstrates strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills
* Demonstrates excellent communication skills (oral and written)
* Demonstrates ability to work well with and provide services for a diverse constituency
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or directly related field
* Experience with budget development and forecasting
* Experience with Banner or other financial reporting systems
* Knowledge of Internal Controls
* Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* Grant Management Experience
* Experience in higher education

* Knowledge of student financial aid rules and regulations
* Experience with W&M human resources and payroll processes, rules and regulations
Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)
