Position Summary:

Reporting to the Dean of the Computing, Data Sciences, & Physics (CDS&P), the Executive Assistant/Adviser to the Dean serves as primary administrative support for the CDS&P Dean in all aspects of his role. The Executive Assistant/Adviser to the Dean performs a wide range of duties that require confidentiality, discretion, tact, diplomacy, strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, writing ability, and analytical and decision-making skills.

  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Significant relevant experience (typically five or more years) in a fast paced, professional, demanding environment involving secure, confidential information.

  • Ability to synthesize and present information/data to facilitate effective decision-making.

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff, as well as a commitment to professionalism with a customer service focus.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven leadership skills with significant people and project management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in organization analysis and strategic planning and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Working knowledge of human resource management, including position development, recruitment, and performance management.

  • Adept problem solver with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience in higher education administration and finance.

  • Prior experience working with government officials and boards of visitors.

  • Extensive knowledge of Commonwealth of VA State University policies.

  • Experience staffing and supporting principals at events and engagements.

  • Experience making travel arrangements including preparation of detailed travel portfolios.

  • Prior experience working with high level donors and/or non-profit organizations.

  • Experience working with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, and university administrators.

Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)

Advertised Pay Range:

$105,000 - $119,000


Advertised Pay Range Statement:

All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
