Position Description :

The
St. David's School of Nursing
seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/nontenured faculty to teach in undergraduate and graduate programs.


Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester-by-semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental/school/program needs.


This posting is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2024/2025 semesters. Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises.


Required Qualifications:



  • Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas;

  • Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.

  • Hold a master's degree or doctoral degree, preferably in nursing.

  • A nurse faculty member holding a master's degree or doctoral degree in a discipline other than nursing shall hold a bachelor's degree in nursing from an approved or accredited baccalaureate program in nursing; and at least twelve (12) graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications would include holding a terminal degree, certification in an area of practice specialty, and expertise in a focused area of nursing practice (such as OB, pediatrics, adult acute care, emergency department, etc.)
