Job Title:Research Technician 1Department:Medicine | IM Medical Oncology

The Research Technician 1 will join the Rubinstein Laboratory, which focuses on understanding how the immune system functions and on applying this knowledge to the development of immune-based therapies to treat cancer. This entry-level role is designed for a recent graduate or someone with foundational laboratory experience who is eager to gain hands-on expertise and develop technical skills in a dynamic and collaborative research environment. The technician will assist with various aspects of laboratory work, including experimental preparation, data collection, analysis, and general lab maintenance.




Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct basic laboratory techniques, including but not limited to specific techniques relevant to the lab, e.g., flow cytometry, PCR, cell culture, Western blotting. Prepare reagents, buffers, and solutions under the supervision of senior lab members. 25%

  • Assist with the collection, documentation, and analysis of experimental data. Maintain accurate laboratory records, including notebooks and digital files. 25%

  • Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensure a clean and safe working environment. Support in inventory management by tracking laboratory supplies and ordering as needed. 25%

  • Collaborate with other lab members on specific research projects and troubleshoot issues as they arise. 25%

Additional Information:


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Some prior laboratory experience (including academic lab courses).

  • Basic proficiency with laboratory techniques, data analysis, and relevant software (e.g., Excel, data analysis tools).

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with immunology research techniques

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and practices.

  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude towards developing new technical skills.
