Job Description Summary
The Director of Learning and Professional Development will develop, implement, and evaluate training programs and initiatives. Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify learning needs, design effective training materials, and deliver interactive and engaging training sessions. Will assess the effectiveness of the training programs through evaluations and feedback, making necessary adjustments to continuously improve the learning experience.


In collaboration with the DAR's central HR department, Core HR Talent Management team, DAR Services Training and Technology team, other University resources, CASE (Council on the Advancement and Support Education) will oversee and enhance synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences. The Director of Learning and Professional Development will create and leverage internal and external networks to maximize knowledge sharing among peers and other subject matter experts, as well as stay current with emerging and best practices.

Job Responsibilities



  • In consultation with the CECO, design, develop, and lead training programs and materials to grow organizational effectiveness that promotes professional development for all staff including senior leaders, managers, and administrative support staff

  • In collaboration with the CECO, create a strategic plan that includes learning and development initiatives, goals, timelines, and metrics

  • Partner with senior leaders and managers to understand staff needs and define, design, and drive innovative training programs that improve the employee experience, advance strategic initiatives, and develop organizational capacity for growth and innovation

  • Partner with CORE HR and external collaborators to enhance training and development initiatives

  • Collaborate with the CECO and Associate Vice President for DAR Diversity Initiatives, to create, develop, and enhance trainings by equipping staff with competencies to recognize and celebrate diversity, equity, including and belonging in DAR team's daily work experiences

  • Partner with Director of Business Process Integration and Technology Training to strategize and collaborate on systems training initiatives

  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs by using learning metrics and analytics to measure and evaluate training offerings and support agile and systematic program improvement in alignment with strategic priorities and goals

  • Conduct analysis to determine learning needs based on projected competencies, career development, organizational change, and external factors for Workday Talent Management content building and management. This includes all levels of DAR with an emphasis on frontline fundraising learning strategies and programs

  • Leverage Learning Management System (Workday) and appropriate delivery technologies to address specific learning needs

  • Assess the effectiveness of learning strategies and training programs on employee performance and organization goals. Provide coaching and mentoring to managers to reinforce learning and support their staff and their own development.

  • Lead and manage internal and external internship programs including the CASE Advancement Internship Program

  • Collaborate with CECO and Director of HR to lead a management development program to assist managers in navigating the DAR's organization, financial processes, employment processes/law, performance management processes, and communication skills. Develop and maintain ongoing management development program to further empathic leadership, assessment of leadership styles, and accountability

Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Arts; Master's preferred and 5 to 7 years of experience in Organizational Development, Leadership Development, or Training, with proven success in building programs or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Track record of delivering, from the ground up, new adult learner programs and materials with total oversight and ultimate accountability of the team and programs' success

  • Prior experience overseeing successful design and implementation of both synchronous and asynchronous training for large, physically distributed audiences

  • Demonstrated personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with proven success at coaching and leading diverse teams effectively

  • Proven experience using data and metrics to inform research, planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
