The Collections Management Assistant 1 will work with Museum personnel to maintain and improve public resources and research space in the Orton Geological Museum. This person conducts procedures associated with exhibits (care, preparation, and installation), including related digital resources; with specimen curation; and with staffing tours.
Specifically, the Collections Management Assistant 1 works with the Director on exhibit preparation and installation, including digital production of exhibit signs and labels, and locating and mounting geological specimens for public display.
The Collections Management Assistant 1 also works with the Director on projects related to the curation and long-term preservation of museum holdings. Specific duties include assistance with specimen curation such as labeling, repairing, and storing geological materials.
Furthermore, the Collections Management Assistant 1 serves as a guide and lecturer for in-person museum tours.
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Desired: BA or BS in Earth Science and at least 6 months of experience. Experience with exhibit design, digital imaging, and computer graphics. Mineral, rock, and fossil identification skills. Public speaking skills desired. Candidate must have a desire to work in a collaborative environment.
The pay range for this job profile is $15.00 - $19.71. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
