Denison University and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center have partnered to provide expanded health and wellness services for the Denison community. Critical to the partnership are Counseling Services. This individual will be employed by the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and will work on the Denison University campus. Clinical offerings include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, education/prevention outreach, consultation, and referral coordination. The role requires collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of providers in the Health & Wellness Center as well as the larger college community to actively contribute to the mission of Denison University. The Ann & Thomas Hoaglin Wellness Center is home to Counseling Services, Medical Services, and Student Wellness. OSUWMC provides the most comprehensive behavioral healthcare services for adults, older adults, children and adolescents in central Ohio. We offer more treatment options and a more experienced and diversified staff than any other psychiatric or behavioral healthcare provider in the area. All of our outpatient services include a comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis from a qualified clinician and implementation of an individualized treatment plan. The Psychotherapist serves as a critical part of our clinical team; they are an independent provider who functions within the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to provide psychotherapy. We seek an individual with training or experience providing mental health services to a college student population. POSITION SUMMARY This individual will provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for patients with mental health complaints and provide psychotherapy to individuals with mental & behavioral disorders to facilitate return to previous or improved functioning. Services provided include individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and/or couple/family therapy. This individual will formulate individualized treatment plans to assist patients to determine and meet treatment goals. Other duties include advocating within local community if needed; work as part of clinical team; and complete all necessary paperwork (e.g., FMLA).Minimum Qualifications For Hire: Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling; Independent Ohio license to practice (i.e., LISW, LPCC) is required. A minimum of two years of experience working with patients with mental illness and/or substance use disorders is also required.
Ongoing: Maintain licensure(s), credentials, and CBLs. Practice within the parameters of the Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board. Training in at least one evidence-based psychotherapy modality (e.g., cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal psychotherapy) will be required.Patient Population Served: ADULTS AGES 16+. Knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatments necessary to meet the age-specific needs of the patient population served is required. In addition, knowledge of and comfort in working with clients and their families/support systems with diverse racial and cultural backgrounds who are experiencing severe emotional illness and are either at risk for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, or are transitioning back to the community from inpatient hospitalizationOrganizational Expectations: Practices within Wexner Medical Center at the Ohio State University's policies and procedures. Adheres to the Intensive Caring Value statements as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, and formulating and meeting developmental goals. Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices and meeting rooms (i.e. use of safe work practices, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signs). Employees are required to wear personal protective attire, according to hospital policies and OSHA guidelines. The work environment also involves risks associated with the use of computers.
