Job Summary



Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Coaches a high volume of undergraduate business students to assist them in meeting their career objectives.

  • Conducts both one-on-one and/or group coaching sessions.

  • Assists in planning career strategy for individual students and provides feedback and encouragement.

  • Directs students towards available resources and provides expertise on networking and connecting with professionals in different industries and stays up to date on industry/functional requirements of entry level business roles. Additionally, leads and develops programs and events delivered by the UCS team.

  • Supports Kelley Compass (T275) curriculum delivery.

  • May occasionally have evening or weekend activities.

  • Contributes to all aspects of the student services team for UCS, including supporting initiatives and collaboration with Kelley student organizations.

  • May lead to student employee supervision.

General Responsibilities


  • Assists with professional and career development of students and alumni through career assessments, exploration, decision-making, goal setting, and planning. Focuses efforts on resume building, interview skill development, mock interview, and job search preparation and navigation; graduate school application and interview preparation through counseling appointments and consultations.

  • Develops and delivers workshops on career development which include networking strategies, interviewing, resume and cover letter writing skills, portfolio development, and using the internet for career search.

  • Supports faculty and students with career exploration, internships, job shadow experiences, presentations, and facilitation of resources available for career development.

  • Serves on various community and institutional committees to build partnerships across the university and among comparable universities to build knowledge base.

  • Assists in the process of collecting and tracking data for office assessment purposes. Utilizes data to assist in the creation of office objectives and goals to meet the needs of the student population.

  • Works through issues with a variety of stakeholders: students, employers, alumni, and faculty. Identifies and capitalizes on connections between groups of stakeholders and leverage those connections in unique ways through events and interactions

  • May provide guidance and delegate administrative tasks to other career services staff.

  • May make process recommendations for improved operational efficiency.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field


Preferred



  • Master's degree in related field

  • 5 years in career consulting or related field

  • Knowledge of career development topics and functions within the field of business

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including confidence while presenting to a large audience

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships through active listening skills and critical thinking skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and social media tools, including analytics

  • Ability to quickly master other technological tools such as Handshake or other technologies as needed




Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.



Work Location



This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
