Overview
We are seeking a motivated, dedicated, and compassionate individual to serve as a Senior Clerk Interviewer (SCI) on our research study team. The SCI will collaborate with our team of investigators on a research project focused on supporting individuals with kidney disease and assisting them in navigating various treatment options, with an emphasis on home dialysis options. As a critical member of the research and healthcare team, the SCI will serve as an important liaison between the community and healthcare providers for individuals with kidney disease. The SCI will assist patients with overcoming challenges, encourage self-advocacy, and motivate patients to remain engaged in their clinical care. Additionally, the SCI will help patients identify and navigate clinical and community resources, such as resources for food (e.g. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), WIC, food pantries); resolving housing quality issues (e.g., lack of heat/hot water, mold and pests); finding and applying for affordable housing; preventing utility shut offs and evictions; and connecting with other members of the healthcare team or healthcare services.
Responsibilities
Provide information on kidney disease progression and treatment options, emphasizing the benefits of home dialysis
Assist patients and their families in understanding the decision-making process regarding dialysis options
Support patients in managing kidney disease, adhering to treatment plans, and promoting healthy behaviors
Build relationships with patients and community members to help patients identify and navigate clinical and community resources
Follow up with patients to improve engagement, ensure that challenges have been addressed and needs are met
Track and document patient contacts, services provided and follow up outcomes
Document and report on patient interactions and progress
Build and maintain positive working relationships with social service agencies, community-based organizations, and community-based programs to support social needs navigation
Follow study protocol and procedures
Participate in related research and operation training related to the role
Interview potential study participants for selection into the study
Assist in sourcing and recruiting a diverse pool of qualified field of participants by contacting community organizations, educational institutions, etc
Participate in field recruitment selection process (i.e. college recruiting, college relations, job fairs, etc.) to recruit study participants
Maintain petty cash
Maintain study database
Review interview data for accuracy by fieldwork staff prior to submission to Assistant Project Director;
Other related responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
High School Diploma and at least 2 years of administrative support experience is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Experience with home dialysis preferred
Experience in community outreach or health education preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
