The Systems Engineer - Pressurized Lunar Rover will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop recommendations and plans for application of systems engineering principles (such as NASA NPR 7123) to the pressurized lunar rover project.
  • Coordinate technical activities to anticipate and prevent problems, optimize requirements, and design solutions.
  • Coordination of development and management of interfaces as well as integrated analyses and margins.
  • Identify technical risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and determine resource requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, define individual goals, set priorities & deadlines, identify key stakeholders, clearly communicate requirements and needs.
  • Participate in preparation for various boards and with both domestic and international customers.
  • Work with management and leadership on schedules and test definitions that satisfy project and program goals and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have 1+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Experience with requirements development, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
  • Experience with certification of human spaceflight hardware.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

DESIRED:

  • BS degree in engineering or related from an accredited engineering school.
  • Experience in space flight systems engineering including the successful delivery of space flight hardware
  • Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites as well as typical systems engineering products.
  • Prior experience working with program-level review boards.
  • ITAR/EAR requirements familiarity.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering software tools and programs (Magic Draw, DOORS, or similar).
  • Ability to travel internationally.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is located onsite.
  • This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
  • This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
