UC Health EAP Counseling Intern will provide supervised clinical mental health services and support to impact quality of life inside and outside the workplace for UC Health employees with the goal of maintaining a healthy, productive workforce and reducing the direct and indirect costs of performance concerns associated with health matters. The Employee Assistance Program is an embedded program that provides free, confidential, employee assistance services to UC Health Employees including assessment, brief counseling, and referrals to a variety of work-life resources. The program also provides consultation for leaders and Human Resources partners, employee coaching services, workplace well-being and conflict management services and psychoeducational trainings. Responds to urgent/crisis organizational calls as needed.

The EAP Counseling Intern will work with employees to provide assessment, referral, and short-term counseling on mental health and work-related issues. Consultant will provide timely assistance to individuals and departments in response to employee deaths, adverse outcomes in the healthcare setting and any other event that has the potential to traumatize UC Health Employees and/or diminish their ability to do their job. This position will operate under the clinical supervision of the EAP Clinical Supervisor.Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree - Mental Health, Psychology, Counseling or similar. Required: Current enrollment in current Master's degree program in a mental health-related field such as counseling, social work, marriage, family therapy. | LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: None Required. | No experience required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

This is an entry level/training position and requires the trainee to be actively enrolled in a Master's program in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy. This position requires knowledge of and ability to work with the diverse issues and needs of various multicultural, ethnic, socio-economic, educational, age-specific and gender populations found within the organization.

• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office(CLINICAL ONLY):

• Engages in population appropriate communication.
• Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
• Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
• Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient.
• Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
• Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Clinical Services:

o Provides supervised, confidential EAP services to staff, employees and their adult household members including the following: assessment/problem identification, consultation, short-term counseling and problem-solving, crisis intervention, referral, and case management.
o Utilizes evidence-based practice in clinical work with employees.
o Follows standard operating procedures and practices for EAP service delivery that ensure client confidentiality, and timely, ethical, and high-quality services.
o Adheres to federal, state, and professional laws and regulations regarding all matters.
o Screens, triages, and schedules clients and/or teams on internal EAP electronic health record system.
o Provides crisis intervention for individuals in response to traumatic incidents.
o Provides walk-in coverage and consultation to associates and managers in need of immediate intervention. 30%
• Job Function- Organization Support & Outreach
o Collaborates with internal partners and HR to provide immediate, effective response and consultation to employees in crisis.
o Delivers on-site and virtual trainings to familiarize employee population with EAP services.
o Facilitates and presents workshops and seminars on a variety of topics that raise awareness of and/or enhance employees' well-being.

Administrative Duties:

o Maintains timely clinical documentation in confidential files. Enters relevant documentation into EHR system in compliance with EAP policies and professional ethical standards.
o Attends and participates in weekly individual and group supervision to ensure ethical, effective clinical practice
o Participates in in-service, organizational trainings and EAP consultation
o Contributes to the support of the program's overall goals and objectives through participation in meetings and activities.
o Researches and prepares for internal and external EAP interventions, including clinical services and group/community training.

Other:

o Any additional tasks as assigned by the clinical supervisor or manager.(CLINICAL ONLY):
