Job Description:

The salary for this position starts at $15.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individuals background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
1. Job Summary:
The Pool-Beach Attendant is responsible for overseeing the assigned aquatics area including but not limited to splash pads, slides, or beach areas to ensure participants are abiding by the pool/beach rules promoting safety and satisfaction in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The incumbent provides a friendly, safe, clean and enjoyable experience to all participants.

2. Essential Functions:
Working, as part of a team, to oversee assigned aquatics areas such as splash pads, slides or beach areas providing a friendly, safe, clean and enjoyable experience to all participants.
Know, understand, and consistently communicate policies and guidelines for the assigned aquatics area.
Assist in special assignments, programs and activities as required.

3. Relationships:
This position reports to the Aquatics Director/Aquatics Supervisor who reports to the Senior Director of Aquatics/Senior Aquatics Manager. The incumbent interacts regularly with their supervisor, staff, volunteers, and participants.

4. Qualifications:
Required
Minimum age of 16.
Ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers
Ability and interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds
Dedicated to participant safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA

5. Work Conditions:
Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
Observe all areas of the pool with clear vision.
Communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
