Job Description:

 Los Angeles Community Health Project (CHPLA) is a program of Heluna Health. CHPLA’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of people affected by substance use in Los Angeles, to increase access to health care, empower people to protect themselves, and educate each other to reduce harm in our communities. LACHP combines direct services, advocacy, outreach, education, and research collaborations to fulfill this mission. LA Community Health Project was founded in 1992.

This position is responsible for receiving all supply shipments and deliveries and maintaining and organizing inventories and orders under the CHPLA umbrella. The Warehouse Coordinator will also oversee the distribution and deliveries of naloxone and harm reduction supplies to outside, eligible providers. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining company vehicles to ensure smooth and safe field operations and work to address maintenance and janitorial issues that arise in the office. In addition to having the capacity to juggle and prioritize multiple duties, the ideal candidate will be expected to understand the context of assignments and be flexible and adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities.

This is a full-time benefitted position.  Employment is provided by Heluna Health.

Pay rate for this position is $25.00 dollars per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General 


  • Loads and unloads trucks and may operate specialized equipment such as pallet lifts, pallet jacks and forklifts for the handling of heavy materials.

  • Conducts routine safety and maintenance checks for warehouse tools and equipment.

  • May perform custodial and minor gardening work in keeping storage facilities and adjoining yard areas in a clean and orderly condition. 

  • Communicates major building issues such as structural issues, electrical issues, plumbing issues, pest issues, and other notable concerns to Manager.

  • May provide general and technical assistance for Harm Reduction supply orders to DHS programs and various harm reduction programs across LA County.

Inventory


  • Accurately documents all inventory transactions OEND inventory system to keep up-to-date inventory moving out of warehouse and inventory received in warehouse.

  • Follows established procedures to accurately perform regularly scheduled inventory counts and evaluate current levels and discrepancies with inventory system. Communicate inventory numbers and discrepancies with Manager. 

  • Unpacks shipments and stocks warehouse with received supplies/equipment while cross-checking descriptions, amounts, and identification numbers to ensure received shipments are in agreement with purchase orders. 

  • Communicates discrepancies or damage with received supply/equipment shipments to manager. 

  • Assist in collecting order packing slips from shipments and ensures all receipts are placed in designated area to be included in financial documents. 

  • Practices FIFO (First In First Out) rotation when replenishing medical supplies with expiration dates.

  • Make sure that the warehouse delivery vehicle is adequately fueled and coordinates with Fleet Manager for regular vehicle maintenance, insurance cards, and vehicle registration renewals. 

Deliveries and Pick-ups 


  • Drive Warehouse Sprinter Van to deliver supplies and pick-up supplies across LA County according to schedule 

  • Fulfills OEND supply requests via supply orders received in the OEND “Fishbowl” system and Microsoft Office shared email addresses in accordance with delivery/pick-up schedule. 

  • Monitors delivery and pick-up schedule daily to ensure all deliveries and pick-up orders are fulfilled

  • Correspond with point-of-contacts on warehouse orders to confirm deliveries and pick-ups prior to fulfillment date and communicate any delays in deliveries or pick-ups

  • Assist with Vending Machine Program by restocking machines on a weekly basis and documenting any issues requiring maintenance with the appropriate parties and CHPLA Leadership. 

  • Assists in-house co-workers in gathering supply delivery materials from all designated areas.

  • Organizes the warehouse before end of shift.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience


  • Experience in warehouse settings, stocking and inventory management and/or shipment deliveries. 

  • Applicants with harm reduction background are preferred

Certificates/Licenses/Clearances


  • Background check required

  • A valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and will be required to enroll in the DMV Pull Notice program

  • Understanding of Harm Reduction philosophies and practices. Sensitive to providing services to people who use drugs as well as other underserved disenfranchised populations. 

  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks and ability to prioritize workload. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization as well as external provider contacts and program participants

  • Ability to work effectively with teams, share information, and work collaboratively to solve problems and make decisions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including spelling and grammar

  • Desire to excel and uphold the mission of CHPLA

WORK ENVIRONMENT

General office setting, indoors, temperature controlled. This position

will require some travel related to supply delivery to contracted providers. Receiving orders, vehicle stocking and maintenance does require some outdoor work.
