The Role:
As part of your role, you will use a variety of equipment, such as saws, banding and other packaging equipment, pneumatic staple guns, box closers/cutters, and hand tools, to package products for shipment. This diversity of skills is a crucial aspect of the role.
You will work with a Forklift, Hand Truck, and/or Pull Truck to arrange for the transportation of products; you may also use an overhead crane. Additionally, you will ship and receive warehouse duties following established procedures.
Responsibilities:
Loads products, parts, or merchandise into designated packages, boxes, or crates.
May operate machines preparing products for shipment, use of labels, and UPS LTL shipment programs.
Review packing lists to ensure all required items are included, and pack containers using foam, plastic, or other materials.
Handles material and products to maintain appropriate flow through production areas.
Documents incoming and outgoing materials and supplies.
Removes shipped materials from delivery vehicles and moves them to a designated storage area. Incoming shipments may include products, parts, or raw materials; examine receiving documents for storage.
Pulls stored materials for orders and moves to production or shipping area.
Documents information relating to receipt, storage, or distribution of materials.
Operates forklift to unload/move materials or products; delivers materials to specified locations.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.
Works individually and as a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements.
Conducts tests and inspections of processes to evaluate quality or performance; examines work to verify conformance to specifications.
May be required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the department working at different workstations as production needs require.
Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.
Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities, contributing to a safety-conscious team.
Required Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 1+ year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with production processes, machines, and tools.
Understanding various computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Proven working experience: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals.
Experience working with various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must for this role.
Experience reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals is also necessary.
Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
