JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory - Supervise and train exercise program coordinators, student interns, and other staff regarding proper use of exercise equipment. Manage the day-to-day operations of the department. Responsible for scheduling and the efficient and effective utilization of staff resources. Assign and supervise work of exercise program coordinators student interns. Supervise staff in development and execution of exercise programs for program participants. Provide staff with informal coaching and assistance and provides input into the annual performance evaluations. Make job requirements and goals for each position clear to employees and provide sufficient training to achieve the desired level of competency; document evidence of competence on an annual basis. Ensure that orientation and in-service training and continuing education are provided to achieve the desired level of performance. Maintain attendance records.
Education & Outreach - Develop and assist with the delivery of fitness-related educational programs and events for children/adolescents with a variety of clinical conditions. Participate in exercise evaluations to include screening individuals' medical histories and current health status. Administer fitness testing procedures to include blood pressure and pulse readings at rest and during exercise, aerobic capacity testing, body composition measurements and tests for muscular strength, endurance and flexibility. Counsel and educate individuals involved in the CCHMC Comprehensive Weight Management Program regarding fitness test results; write individual exercise programs and regimens based on test results; assist participants in setting personal fitness goals and motivate them to adopt healthy lifestyles. Orient and instruct youth in proper use of exercise equipment. Develop group exercise sessions.
Equipment Maintenance - Assist in maintenance of exercise equipment to include safety monitoring and periodic cleaning.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in related field. May require clinical license, certification or training
7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
