Job Summary: The Fiscal Grant Manager will plan, monitor, and prepare pre and post award financial and accounting activities. The Fiscal Grant Manager is an individual contributor responsible for overseeing fiscal and compliance aspects of grants and will stay current on federal and state grant regulations. The Fiscal Grant Manager will participate in the month and year-end close to accurately prepare and report financial information and enable strategic decisions.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: The essential functions are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job: Fiscal grant management
Prepare grant billings and fiscal reports
Monitor grant receivables
Accountable for the completion of monitoring and reporting required by funders
Perform monthly reconciliation to ensure that the accounting related to grants within the general ledger are aligned and accurately reflect monthly activity and provide a monthly review of multiyear grants to ensure the recording of liabilities is in accordance with GAAP
Perform monthly reconciliation/crosswalk of draw amounts to the general ledger and grant awards
Prepare closeout reports
Organize, prioritize workload; Utilize independent analytical and problem-solving skills
Close out all files and deactivate job accounts
Assist CRJ staff and teams in applying for, and awarded, grants
Reviews personnel actions affecting restricted accounts and reviews all other expenditures
Administrative
Assist program managers with grant management as needed
Develop and implement protocols for managing grants and contracts
Identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvement and take action to meet deadlines
Partner with CRJ Staff on federal financial reporting, compliance, and documentation
Assist with the definition, documentation, and implementation of processes to improve operational performance as well as ensure effective internal controls over financial operations
Monitor and keep current with GAAP/FASB/GASB developments, including OMB circulars and supplements
Develop and deliver training on grant protocols.
Develop and maintain a resource guide to assist in the identification and tracking of grant opportunities
Financial Compliance and Audit Support
Serve as audit liaison for grant inquiries and single audits
Liaison for federal monitoring visits
Support Finance Manager and Controller with the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Grants (SEFA)
Support the month-end and year-end closing procedures and the preparation of related statements
Complete other work as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the laws governing the administration of state and federal grants
Ability to maintain detailed and extensive records and to prepare reports from same. Ability to deal tactfully and appropriately with local, state and federal agencies and officials
Communicate effectively through email, phone calls, video calls, etc. with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated attention to detail, time management and independent analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (experience in NetSuite is a plus)
Ability to flex work schedule required to meet deadlines beyond routine workflow
Commitment to CRJ’s mission and values and an ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent professional experience (CPA certification preferred)
Three or more years in nonprofit accounting, auditing, monitoring, financial management, state and federal grant administration or an equivalent and relevant combination of education and experience
