Data Analyst - BigBox VR at Oculus

Job Description:

We are BigBox VR the makers of Population: One, the most popular Battle Royale game in VR. You are a talented Data Analyst who is passionate about games and understanding players. You excel at asking the right questions to solve complicated business problems with no clear right answer. You dive into metrics to help find issues that would be difficult to locate without BI. You can implement novel ways of AB testing features so we can tell what the impact of a feature is. You can connect user reports with live data to validate player experiences. Collaboration, iteration, and problem solving are key for your day to day. You work directly with the game team to reveal performance of the game and opportunities to positively impact the business. The ideal candidate is proactive, taking the initiative to investigate product health and player behavior, gather data, and make recommendations to stakeholders independently and often.



Data Analyst - BigBox VR Responsibilities:



  • Become an expert on the player experience and the relationships between in-game systems, features, and engagement metrics

  • Discover insights by analyzing data and player experiences, leading to moving the needle on metrics that drive business goals

  • Instrumenting products to collect the data needed to answer anticipated questions in the future

  • Collaborate with legal to document, verify, and protect user data from improper usage

  • Collaborate with the team to define metrics, evaluate if the player experience is in line with the product goals and KPIs, and make projections of expected future trends

  • Create visualizations and dashboards to present findings to a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and implementations for data recording, analysis, and visualization

  • Provide relevant context to inform/influence group decision-making, understand the impact of recurring releases, compare changes to historical trends, and recommend improvements to move key metrics

  • Mentor and share best practices with other Analysts in the studio and at Meta

  • Establish standards around data formatting and requirements





Minimum Qualifications:



  • 5+ years experience in quantitative analysis, presentation, and driving business direction using data

  • 5+ years experience with live service products, free to play games, or social products

  • 5+ years experience in SQL and ETL

  • 5+ years experience in data manipulation/visualization tools (e.g. Python, R, Spyder, Jupyter notebook)

  • Proven track record of effectively working with business leaders to translate ambiguous questions into actionable data to drive product direction

  • Experience initiating and driving multiple projects to completion

  • Experience quickly iterating with the team to find and share performance results

  • Experience with statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression analysis)

  • Experience with Root Cause analysis





Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with machine learning techniques (clustering, classification, prediction, etc)

  • Experience with econometric concepts and methods (IV, synthetic controls, etc)

  • Experience with popular first-person shooter and battle royale games

  • Experience with monitoring analytics for games, particularly VR titles

$124,000/year to $176,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
