Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Centeroffers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.

Job Role Summary




The Lead Licensed Clinician works collaboratively with clinic leaders to oversee clinical care and workflow to ensure that client's mental health and substance use needs are being addressed and that clinical staff are supported both administratively and clinically. This position manages a caseload of clients by identifying therapeutic, rehabilitative and case management needs, engaging other team members in meeting these needs as indicated.




Essential Functions and Responsibilities






  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development, and Excellence

  • Provides clinical supervision, continuous feedback, and coaching to clinicians , care coordinators, and/or other related positions

  • Prepares clinical treatment plans and completes biopsychosocial evaluation ("BPSE"), integrating information gathered by the team and developing the integrated diagnostic summary based upon the BPSE and in consultation with the client, family, treatment team

  • Performs a variety of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions utilizing evidence-based practices

  • May provide care coordination, skills training and development to clients in group and individual settings as guided by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment plan

  • Meets the agency's standard of providing the appropriate service at the right time, right place, and right frequency as determined by the client's level of need

  • Onboards team members as required

  • Teaches team members and monitors adherence to evidence-based clinical practices and protocols Monitors team member performance and may assist with additional performance management activities as needed

  • Collaborates with clinical leaders on program design, implementation, and evaluation

  • May provide community outreach and education

  • Serves as a role model and clinical resource for other staff

  • Assists staff in determining appropriate interventions to aid clients in reaching their treatment goals

  • Assists other team members in covering client needs

  • Assists staff with any high-risk patient symptoms or circumstances that would result in risk for self-harm or harm to others and notifies appropriate clinical leader(s)

  • Outpatient Service Areas Only: May provide transportation in company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle as directed by treatment team and guided by medical necessity; maintains a copy of Eskenazi Health's vehicle-related accident reporting procedures in vehicle






Job Requirements






  • Master's degree in Human Services

  • Clinically licensed in the state of Indiana as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

  • Three years of clinical experience post-bachelor's degree; supervisory experience preferred

  • Valid Indiana driver's license and driving record that meets Eskenazi Health's driving policy requirements

  • Thorough understanding of strength- and community-based treatment models

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to be both clear and concise in written and verbal communication

  • Advanced knowledge of:

  • psychiatric/addiction diagnoses and understanding of their impact on behavior

  • psychotropic medication, their uses and side effects

  • research-based clinical practices and protocols

  • Use of discretion and independent decision-making regarding client safety and care

  • Ability to:

  • Teach, support and mentor others

  • Use communication appropriate to the audience

  • Teach evidence-based clinical practices and protocols to others

  • Implement community- and strengths-based treatment interventions

  • Crisis intervention skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Leadership and team building ability

  • Ability to navigate multiple computer programs and systems

  • Ability to perform duties in a variety of environments and locations

  • Must meet all population-specific competencies for role and service area

  • Narcotics Treatment Program Only: Must have experience and training to safely manage therapeutic services to clients and provide therapeutic services to clients receiving opioid treatment medication
