Overview:The Quinnipiac University Honors Program Academic Coordinator supports the QU Honors Program through program planning and management, student recruitment and advising, as well as creation and oversight of key program initiatives. Working in conjunction with the Honors Program Administrative Director, the Honors Program Faculty Director, and the Honors Program Assistant Director, the Honors Program Academic Coordinator makes decisions and represents the Honors Program at university events. The ideal candidate works with students in all aspects of the honors experience: recruitment and on-boarding in the first year, planning academic goals, understanding the various program options, getting connected to other academic and campus resources, and navigating QU, advising and degree plan composition, and concluding with graduation. The ideal candidate must have a nuanced and holistic understanding of honors education from recruitment to alumni relations and provide tools for navigating honors requirements and connecting students to campus-wide resources, experiential opportunities, and programs that create a unique honors experience.About Quinnipiac:Quinnipiac University is a private, coeducational institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. Assist in pre-enrollment, admissions, orientation, campus, and career activities reinforcing the importance of a collective, integrated college experience geared toward academic and career success.
Provide academic advisement to each student, specifically through the progression of the initial registration upon acceptance to major/degree selection as it pertains to career interests and pursuits.
Interpret career assessment instruments and provide career resources/advisement, developing a timely career track congruent with students' academic pursuits.
Coordinate with affiliate departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals.
Complete monthly reports that demonstrate progress towards retention, student registration, and other key job performance indicators.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of the Honors Program, the Faculty Director of the Honors Program, and Administrative Director of the Honors Program.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree preferred
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience with admissions and student recruitment and/or experience analyzing course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirement
Effective written and communication skills as demonstrated in cover letter and resume
Knowledge of principles and procedures related to student advisement and/or related services
Strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of programs/services available to university students
Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations and school policies, and other State and Federal laws
Ability to evaluate student transcripts and/or records
Knowledge of the rules, regulations, and laws regarding student records
Ability to assess and interpret individual student needs and to make appropriate referrals
Knowledge of student retention and progression issues
Ability to work with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and campus community
Demonstrated skills in multitasking, preparing reports, problem-solving, and analyzing program, university, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements
Excellent customer service and team-based skills
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
