Responsibilities


• Collect, clean, and preprocess data from various sources using SQL, Python, Snowflake, or other tools.
• Create and update dashboards and reports using PowerBI, or other visualization tools
• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines using SQL, Python, Snowflake, or other tools.
• Apply appropriate statistical and machine learning techniques to build and evaluate predictive models
• Perform data quality checks and ensure data integrity and accuracy
• Analyze data and provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve our organizational processes and outcomes
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions
• Research and implement best practices and new technologies for data engineering and analytics
• Support coworkers when issues arise

• Remain flexible to additional responsibilities as required; react to change effectively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

Other Duties

• Identify and define data elements and their characteristics to develop and maintain an Organizational data dictionary
• Train and mentor staff on new process changes and initiatives
• Develop strategies and plans to assure sustainability of improvements
• Monitor and report progress on projects and performance to senior management
• Travel to terminals in the network to observe operations and assist with technology implementations


Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• 1 - 3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related roles
• Proficient in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis
• Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik
• Knowledge of statistical and machine learning concepts and techniques, such as regression, classification, clustering, dimensionality reduction, etc.
• Experience with data warehouse and cloud platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, or Azure
• Experience with data pipeline tools such as Airflow, Spark, or Kafka is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Curiosity and passion for data and problem solving
• Outstanding time management and organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
• Knowledge of LTL transportation industry is a plus
• Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Software products
• Fluent command in the English language is required to efficiently communicate with internal and external customers

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Candidates must be able to efficiently communicate, observe operations facilities and activities, and learn our business from the "trenches".
• Sedentary work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of forces frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are only required occasionally.
• Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, and extensive reading.
• Typical exposure to interior environmental conditions like air conditioning and dust; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Talking and hearing required to communication with and listen to others to share or receive information. Occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others.
• Up to 25% travel required
