WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Senior BI Programmer position is an opportunity to have a meaningful and lasting impact in advancing data accessibility and usage at the Conservancy, a geographically dispersed organization of over 6,000 employees. This position is in the Business Intelligence (BI) & Analytics team, which is part of the Information Technology (IT) department's Data Services group. We are an energetic team dedicated to providing BI and analytics services across the Conservancy and championing the transformative power of data. We partner with internal business and other IT teams to design and build data assets, reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses; as well as consult on KPI development and measuring program successes. One of our current major initiatives is building a framework for self-service analytics, empowering our business partners to work directly on analyses and reports.

The Senior BI Programmer is a critical partner in our self-service analytics initiative, providing strong partnership and drive to ensure our current enterprise analytics tool, Power BI, is fit for purpose. While not responsible for administration of our Power BI installation, they are a collaborative partner in optimizing the Conservancy's usage of Power BI's options and features. They are technical lead on analytics projects of varying scope and complexity and make recommendations that improve and strengthen outcomes. They are a technical resource for programmers on the BI & Analytics team and establish team best practices within the context of Power BI, conduct quality assurance, and assist in troubleshooting production issues. The Senior BI Programmer proactively researches and recommends creative technical and process solutions internal to the BI & Analytics team and in the context of self-service reporting and analysis.



WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

We're looking for a proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented technical leader who is passionate about data and meticulous about accuracy. The successful candidate is inspired by technical challenges, persistent about effective solutions, and dedicated to continuous improvement of team products and processes. They are a self-starter that thrives in an agile execution environment focused on iteration and responsiveness. They are proficient working within a framework that includes entity-relationship and dimensional models, data lakes and data warehouses, and reporting tools such as Power BI, SAS, and Databricks. The successful candidate is dedicated to staying abreast of analytics industry advancements and new technologies and evaluating them for potential benefits to the Conservancy.



WHAT YOU'LL BRING

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant technical discipline and three years of experience in programming and systems design, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
* Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI including DAX, Power Query, M, tenant settings and options, and building visuals
* Experience with SQL, base SAS (PROC SQL), Databricks (DB SQL), or Python
* Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to design, document, and implement fit for purpose technical solutions, including communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
* Experience working independently and prioritizing multiple competing demands in a fast-paced environment


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience designing, implementing, or working within an enterprise level self-service analytics framework
* Experience analyzing complex system-wide technical specifications and interfaces, debugging applications programs, and producing effective user and technical documentation
* Working knowledge of relational database best practices and concepts such as business analysis (requirements and use cases), data analysis, data modeling and transformation, data quality management (DQM) methods, data governance, data architecture, data dictionaries, data warehouse / warehousing, or referential integrity
* Experience in a global organization or non-profit business model
* Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated

* Excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional customer services skills

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $100,000 - $137,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
