Texas Biomed is searching for a Director, Development – Major and Principal Gifts. This exciting position will design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy for major gift prospects, as well as oversee and manage all externally focused development team members. He/she will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects focused on annual/unrestricted funds as well as capital campaign priorities. This role serves as an important strategic leader in the Development team, driving revenue strategy in close collaboration with, and reporting to, the Vice President of Development.


The Role:

· Qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and lead gift prospects to align prospect interests with strategic campaign/funding objectives and ongoing priorities

· Manage a portfolio of prospects with potential for gifts of $50,000 and greater

· Schedule and conduct face-to-face meetings and communications with all prospects assigned in his/her portfolio

· Maintain thorough records of campaign-related cultivation strategies, evaluations, solicitations, contact reports and results of all contacts with prospects

· Produce proposals, supporting documentation and correspondence with portfolio prospects; handle logistics for any and all donor tours and meetings

· Manage externally facing development team members, including staff handling foundation and corporate prospects and sponsors; event management for Founder's Council, Forum and Global Health Symposium; and Annual Giving/Golden Circle giving society

· Provide direction, leadership and motivation to assigned employees.

· Assist in the development of plans for achieving and exceeding annual fundraising goals annually

· Maintain and manage Development Team calendar and stewardship/communications calendar with team and ensure strategic planning throughout year

· Work closely with VP of Development to ensure capital campaign progress and Campaign Committee coordination

· Organize regional awareness opportunities to expand regional/national prospects

· Work with Development team to implement appropriate recognition opportunities for foundation and corporate supporters, including naming opportunities at Texas Biomed, press releases and social media highlights. Report back to donors on recognition.

· Provide support at Development-related events throughout the year, and represent Development and Texas Biomed at related community events (may include weekends and evenings)


Our Ideal Candidate:

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university required; Master's Degree and/or professional certification (CFRE, etc.) preferred

· Ten (10) years of development experience required including major gift portfolio management and solicitations as well as experience managing a diverse professional team

· Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and best practices associated with major gift fundraising

· Personable presence, demeanor and the desire to work face-to-face with the external community, including volunteers and donor prospects

· Strong public-speaking/presentation skills

· Command of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; knowledge of Raiser's Edge or development-related CRMs

· Must be able to travel
