We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician / Industrial Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Decatur, Illinois.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This role will provide assistance to production crews in mechanical and machine operations, building and facilities and associated equipment. Employees main focus will be maintaining the industrial vehicle / equipment fleet.

TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Inspect industrial vehicle/equipment fleet to ensure vehicles/equipment are working properly and safely.
  • Identifies any industrial vehicles/equipment that need repairs.
  • Removes unsafe vehicles/equipment from facility operating area and notifies supervisor.
  • Repairs and maintains various types of industrial vehicles/equipment.
  • Understand the operation of pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanics.
  • PM plant equipment mechanically.
  • Be able to use hand tools, welder and cutting torch.
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Environmental, Safety and Quality Procedures, Practices and Policies.
  • Follows all LOTO procedures & conducts LOTO as needed.

Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies).

  • High School graduate or GED preferred; or vocational tech training in mechanical related field is preferred.
  • Minimum three years for proven industrial experience or an associate degree with 20 hours of industrial training.
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred (will be certified in house if needed).
  • Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blueprints, rulers and tape measures.
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Experience in Railroad Industry is a plus but not required.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional travel may be required which includes walking, standing, sitting and driving from short to long periods of time.
