Overview
In this exciting role, you will report to the Chief People Strategy Officer (CPSO), and lead Insmed's dynamic and growing Corporate Communications team and serve as a key cross-functional partner within the organization. As Vice President, Corporate Communications, you will be responsible for internal and external corporate communications, product communications, and corporate social responsibility across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, leading a team of communicators in all three regions.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role within Insmed, which is currently preparing for the anticipated U.S. launch of its second product, followed by launches in Europe and Japan, as well as an anticipated significant label expansion for its currently marketed product.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success leading communications activities at a biopharmaceutical company, strong business and media acumen, outstanding writing and editing skills, experience working closely with C-suite executives, and a proven ability to operate under tight timelines. Lead and manage the global Corporate Communications function for Insmed, including overseeing the development of a growing team of seven communications professionals
Define and drive a comprehensive communications strategy that supports Insmed's business objectives and conveys the value of our culture, our leadership, and our marketed and pipeline programs
Oversee the development of core communications materials, including press releases, social media content, website look, feel, and content, Q&As, video content, and executive talking points
Provide crisis communications counsel and support across the business as needed
Ensure all communications are aligned with Insmed's voice, messaging, positioning, and branding, and that external communications are pulled through internally
Partner closely with Investor Relations, Executive Committee, and other cross-functional colleagues on high-visibility data and regulatory announcements to ensure a strong surround-sound of communications
Develop strategic earned media relations plans geared toward print, online, and broadcast outlets; oversee agencies in executing media outreach and build in-house relationships with key reporters; monitor and respond to inbound media inquiries as needed
Provide high-level oversight of PR and digital/branding agencies, helping to ensure high-quality deliverables that are both on time and on budget
Maintain in-depth knowledge of Insmed's business, including each of our four pillars, and apply this deep understanding to external and internal communications approaches
Anticipate communication needs as we grow and proactively recommend new channels and approaches to support our evolving organization
Plan and moderate global company town halls, including preparing speakers and overseeing production needs
In partnership with the CPSO, ensure leaders have the tools and talking points to appropriately cascade significant organizational/business evolution messages to their teams
Provide high-level oversight of corporate social responsibility strategy and tactics
Partner with the head of sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) working group to ensure robust reporting of Insmed's approach to responsibility, including development of annual Responsibility Report
Identify opportunities to build thought leadership and uphold and advance Insmed's reputation, including media interviews, speaking opportunities, and social media engagements
Manage global communications budget and ensure responsible spending across all regions
Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years' experience in corporate communications in the biopharma industry, with a mix of both in-house and agency experience preferred
Minimum of seven years' experience leading direct reports and projects; experience managing direct reports in other geographies a plus
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree a plus
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including strong attention to detail and quality control; comfort speaking to a companywide audience
Working knowledge of ESG landscape and peripheral experience with ESG reporting
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively cross-functionally and to support senior leaders with thought leadership strategies
High learning agility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving organization, adapting to changing external and internal dynamics
Demonstrated leadership in driving results
Demonstrated track record of patient-centered thinking
Strong business acumen and understanding of all aspects of the biopharmaceutical business
Location - Hybrid
An employee is considered hybrid when they are local to their Insmed facility (in this case, Bridgewater, NJ) and their primary work location is their home office. You can choose to primarily work from home with no set in-office schedule. Employees are expected to regularly come onsite when requested or required for a purposeful meeting and/or event (generally one or more times per week).
