Description: Our client is currently seeking a Transport Engineer in Rolling Meadows, IL
Position is required to work from Rolling Meadows, IL office at minimum 2 days per week.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
The Engr Transport II position will focus the submission of circuit disconnect orders and the population of disconnect responses from 3rd party providers to support all fiber-based uplift projects. Experience in the cellular industry with LIT and dark fiber circuit projects required. Also experience with a circuit management database, like Canvas (CND), is required.
The position will partner with multiple engineers performing new technologies role via upgrades and new construction locations for the Illinois Wisconsin team. This position will be engaged in the auditing of the Canvas (CND) database and internal tools to reflect accurate equipment and circuit path designations.
The Transport Eng. will closely collaborate with various stakeholders to accurately reflect accurate fiber designs of new and existing technologies.
The position works with a group of peer transport engineers who regularly evaluate the optimization of the transport network, including fronthaul, backhaul and microwave networks. The transport team is responsible for creating, designing and issuing Work Orders and engineering new cell sites and existing MSC growth with LTE and C-band carrier additions.
Knowledge of LIT ethernet and Dark Fiber are a requirement. You will be supporting the documentation for multiple transport solutions. These initiatives will require a skill set including, Ericsson baseband, Ciena 5164/Nokia IXRe, Assentria Siteboss knowledge related to cellular network design. As part of this team, you will play a critical role in our network transformation to build a unified network across all lines of business and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of our customers connected.
Goals of the position:
Reduce the cost associated with Direct Telecom expenses by disconnecting unused circuits Documenting to a monthly interconnect implementation plan that supports uplift of ethernet backhaul bandwidth to 10G. Disconnecting legacy 1G bandwidth circuit, validating circuits are no longer being billed.
Managing telco vendors to meet disconnect orders and associated credits.
Attending project update meetings to provide technical solutions and release work orders to field engineering teams Adopting current methods/procedures for interconnect tracking.
Partner with field/systems Network Assurance teams to drive fiber connectivity activation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
3 or more years of Transport design experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry.
Experience with 3rd party vendors, ordering processes and network portfolio maps.
Experience with circuit database tracking (Canvas, FUZE SPM).
Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.
