We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the Personalization team under Customer Experience organization. You will be in the unique position to bring/influence a broader impact to the Walmart's customers and associates by building features and solutions that power the ML model inferencing and governance at scale, contributing to highly engaging customer experiences for Walmart customers across channels. About the Team:
The Personalization team consists of big data geeks, machine learning engineers, application engineers, data scientists and product visionaries all working together to design, prototype and build technology-driven products and experiences that will change the future landscape of e-commerce. We are focused on building an intelligent system that will enable 1:1 personalized customer experience, from finding the product to delivering it to the customer. We are building platforms and data solutions that is used to generate ML features that powers the ML model inferencing, governance, privacy, and analytics at large scale. Our team partners with the data scientists that train state-of-the-art probabilistic models on these ML features to serve our customer needs by leveraging cutting edge machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, entity-relationship extraction, and knowledge representation.

What you'll do:
Build data-driven platforms and capabilities to power Personalization experiences across site, app, stores, voice commerce.
Architect solutions which could be deployed as SaaS platform, ensuring modular design to support multi-tenancy from it's core.
Architect systems and platforms that will orchestrate technology roadmap for cross-functional teams to meet enterprise goals.
Architect systems and workflows to process and manage petabyte scales of features data.
Collaborating with Science and Engineering team leads and architects to drive end-to-end scalable solutions for cross-functional projects.
Work closely with business and product stakeholders to define strategy, vision, and roadmap for top initiatives in Personalization and Recommendations.
Actively propose, review and present technical solutions including architecture design, implementation details and customer and business impacting KPIs.
Actively contribute to the research community through participation at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
What you'll bring:
You have experience in architecting large-scale distributed systems and platforms that support modern applied ML at scale.
You have experience architecting modularized solutions adhering to SaaS platform and deploying it in large scale enterprise setup.
You have advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns and application building experience using Java or Scala.
You have experience in building and scaling systems that orchestrate and execute complex workflows in big data leveraging Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and BigData stack preferably in Google Cloud Platform.
You have experience with designing and building Feature Store solutions that can support context-aware real-time ML inferencing.
You have experience in designing ML features and models from structured and unstructured data.
You have experience with ML Platform and ML Ops methodologies.
You have experience in building datasets, tools, and services supporting big data and analytics operations.
You have experience in evaluating and fine-tuning systems for speed, robustness, and cost efficiency.
You have experience in relational SQL and NoSQL databases like Cassandra, AzureSQL, Cosmos.
You are familiar with CI/CD and release management processes used in software engineering field.
You have strong written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
