Job Description:

Under minimal supervision, collaborates department investigators and develops clinical and nursing infrastructure to facilitate and enhance clinical trials.


Duties:



  • Oversees research nurse direct care of patients on clinical trial.

  • Develops nursing interventions to optimize patient's health while on study.

  • Consults with research team in clinical research problem solving.

  • Provides clinical nursing expertise in assessing protocol feasibility in a multidisciplinary clinical setting.

  • Consults with investigators in developing action plans in event of protocol non-compliance.

  • Serves as a change agent in implementing clinical research for specific disease sites.

  • Liaison between research and clinic staff to implement research in the hospital, clinic, and outpatient chemotherapy areas.

  • Collaborates with clinic and research staff to implement clinical research procedures in compliance with GCP & ICH guidelines.

  • Provides supervision to research staff in interpretation, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement in research.

  • This includes consultation in clinical trial development for investigator-initiated studies.

  • Collaborates with Clinical Trials leadership to develop and implement clinical research Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Conducts in-service training to educate research nursing staff and clinical nursing staff on the pharmacologic profile and nursing implications of investigative agents.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, AND: 



  • 48 months professional (RN) experience in a research capacity.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept an Associate's Degree in Nursing and 24 months professional (RN) experience.


Skills:



  • Excellent organizational skills

  • High level of judgment to determine proper course of action while following established standards.

  • Ability to supervise and train.


Certifications:



  • State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse Licensure

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
