Candy/Seasonal Assistant Sourcing Contractor



Pay: $31.00/hr.


Contract 6+ mos.


M-F 8am-5pm


Austin locals - will work hybrid until New Year then FT onsite



Job Description



Responsibilities:


• Supports Sourcing Leader in operating as a subject matter expert in their product category sourced, inclusive of industry knowledge, familiarity with suppliers and broader industry.


• Serves as a champion of Organics, Fair Trade, Animal Welfare, Sustainability and Quality Standards and the Natural Foods Industry to advance the mission of the company.


• Maintains and updates appropriate system(s) content and helps with other documentation and reporting as assigned.


• Supports Sourcing Leader in weekly, monthly and quarterly financial and root cause analysis.


• Collaborates with Global Assistant Category Merchant stakeholders on achieving category tasks and goals.


• Develops and nurtures key strategic partnerships and strong working knowledge of the supplier and industry landscape.


• Partners with Global Purchasing Teams, Distribution, and Regions to ensure alignment to and execution within the broader context of the overall category management strategy.


• Understands customer trends and stays focused on competitive landscape utilizing internal and external resources.


• Communicates, represents, and upholds Whole Foods Market core values and leadership principles to all stakeholders.


• Provides accurate and complete information in reports and communications.


• Collaborates with Exclusive Brands Support teams to drive continuous process improvement.


• Participates in mentoring and training new team members.


• Accountable for positively impacting team collaboration and group effectiveness.


• Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Able to read financial reports, spot business trends and assess underlying drivers of results.

  • Familiar with financial goals and guidelines.

  • Demonstrates a desire for continuous learning and sharpening this skill.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and listening.

  • Understands necessity of tailoring communication to meet audience needs.



Education & Experience: BA/BS degree and 2-4 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
