Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $35.34 - 44.18


The Clinical Documentation Improvement Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the staff and the daily operations of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists and is responsible for personnel management, orientation, training and ongoing education. The IP Clinical Documentation Improvement Coordinator will work in association with the Clinical Documentation Specialists, coding team, physicians, and all members of the healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in the medical record. Coordinator ensures compliance to governmental, departmental and other regulatory regulations, policies and procedures



Essential Job Functions



• Supervises the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to include directing and coordinating the day-to-day activities, establishing priorities and ensuring workload and schedules are appropriate per department standards.
• Supervises the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to include directing and coordinating the day-to-day activities, establishing priorities and ensuring workload and schedules are appropriate per department standards.
• Responsible for personnel management to include interviewing, hiring, orientation/training, performance appraisal, coaching/counseling and disciplinary action.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including, but not limited to, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, Senior Leadership and the department managers of, Coding Resources, Quality, Care Management, Patient Financial Services, and Health Information Management.
• Be involved in the direction and education of all phases of the Clinical Documentation Improvement .
• Provide ongoing program education for new staff, including new Clinical Documentation Specialists, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and allied health professionals.
• Tracks and trends program compliance to ensure adherence to all CMS regulations regarding inpatient coding and abstracting elements including POA,SOI/ROM, ICD10 CM, ICD10 PCS, DRG assignment, and HCC/risk adjusted coding.
• Assume responsibility for professional development through participation at workshops, conferences, and/or in-services and maintains appropriate records of participation
• Understand and disseminate reports to appropriate administrative personnel indicating productivity and success of the CDI program.
• Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.



Minimum Qualifications


Education

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Nursing



Experience

• Two (2) years clinical experience with recent management or supervisory experience, preferred.
• Knowledge of coding principles and guidelines.
• Knowledge of reimbursement systems (MS-DRG, APR-DRG), as well as federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and billing.
• Knowledge of risk adjusted payment model



Certifications and Licenses

• Current Montana license as a Registered Nurse
• CCDS, CDIP and/or CCS preferred, or required to be obtained within two year
• Yellow Belt certification in Operational Excellence, or certification to be obtained within the timeframe as established by manager
