This position serves as the second shift (2:00pm-10:30pm) Lead Security Officer, working closely with the Director, Manager, and security officers for the College's security efforts. This entails security officer training, scheduling, and student, staff and public security enforcement of college policies and procedures. Interact with all staff, students, and College leadership along with external protective services such as law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and agencies related to security situations.
This is a limited term position with an expected duration of January 5, 2026.
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assist leadership in the department in the administration of College-wide security efforts to ensure safety of students, staff and visitors.
Assist the Manager with field training program and training for all new and current security interns. Guide in the development of security officers, including incident response, customer service, report writing, and professionalism.
Conduct proactive patrols and maintain camera surveillance and radio/dispatch software updates.
Support additional officer responsibilities such as AED checks, lost and found, daily activity reports, security equipment inventory, and eyewash station checklist.
Assist with the operation of the College's security system and the system capabilities and recommend improvements as needed.
Provide assistance and guidance for security officers to include the following: Training, responding to calls for service, and assisting with daily activities.
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Conduct or assist with classroom and staff presentations regarding security and safety of the college and its occupants.
Provide an additional leadership position for security at special events.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field.
Two years of work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position, OR
An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience for which comparable knowledge may be acquired.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
Valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.
Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Records Disclosure Check.

Work Environment
Work must be completed in person.
Work is typically performed indoors and outdoors during both daytime and nighttime hours, and in all weather conditions.
Work environment may change based upon college needs.
Physical Requirements
Sitting: This role requires extended periods of sitting while performing tasks and utilizing computer systems.
Mobility: Mobility is necessary for attending meetings, responding to incidents, or events where security is present.
Lifting and Carrying: The role requires occasional lifting and carrying of light to moderate items such as med bags, AED's, battery jump packs, and traffic cones. Est. weight 25lbs-75lbs.
Climbing: Capability to climb stairs or ladders, if applicable to the job.
Repetitive Motions: Capacity to perform repetitive motions, such as typing, without discomfort or injury.
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, candidates, and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.
Travel: Lead Security position may be required for off-site events, training, or incident response.
Driving: Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $24.53 per hour.
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
