GovState is seeking candidates for the position of Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. Reporting directly to the Dean of CHHS, The Department Chair is responsible for management of the department's budget, curriculum, accreditation, personnel, and enrollment.The Department of Occupational Therapy is one of seven academic departments in the College. The Department houses a Master of Occupational Therapy program and a post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. We have a strong reputation in the state for our active and engaged faculty and highly regarded MOT graduates, many of whom have returned after successful clinical careers for the DrOT and become faculty in other programs.We seek a dynamic, detail-oriented and visionary leader who will build upon the department's strengths to provide exceptional professional educational experiences, recruit and develop outstanding faculty, and promote faculty-driven scholarly and creative endeavors. The next Chair will be a committed team player who is devoted to excellent student outcomes and shared governance. The selected individual will be a caring colleague, a consultative decision-maker and will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.We are preparing a healthcare workforce that understands the social and environmental determinants of health and is committed to advancing justice through improving health equity. We seek a like-minded, experienced individual who shares our values and supports the GovState mission to provide accessible, high-quality educational programs that meet the needs of the surrounding communities. Subject to approval by the University President and Board of Trustees, an appointment will be made at a rank of Full or Associate Professor consistent with experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for tenure following successful completion of the first year. The target starting date is January 16, 2025. Salary range is $110,000-$120,000.Required and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum requirements include:
Post-professional Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or related field
Experience with ACOTE accreditation
At least 8 years of documented experience in the field of Occupational Therapy
At least 4 years of post-secondary teaching experience
Academic scholarship record commensurate with an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor with tenure
Preferred Qualifications:
At least three years of experience in an educational administrative leadership role
Strong presence in state and national professional organizations
An active scholarly agenda with current or previous extramural funding
