The University of Miami UHealth Department of Lennar Perioperative Services has an exciting opportunity for a full time Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing (H) to work at Lennar Foundation Medical Center in Coral Gables. The incumbent supervises and directs the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. The Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing (H) oversees staffing and provides direction and support to department staff to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensures the development of staff by providing orientation and continuing education programs.
Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Provides for the maintenance of necessary supplies and equipment.
Assists in achieving compliance with accrediting and licensing requirements.
Serves as a liaison with the operating room and other departments.
Recommends quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Demonstrates knowledge of and follows departmental and medical center policies and procedures.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Ensures employees are trained in controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Department Specific Functions
Collect comprehensive data necessary to support the Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD).
Support and collaborate with the CSPD manager in the daily management of departmental operations for the CSPD team operations, coordinating to ensure departmental coverage during operational hours.
Review staffing assignment and make changes as necessary to support daily operations.
Analyze data to develop ideas and support decisions relevant to the delivery of sterile processing services.
Coordinate implementation of sterile processing services using human and capital resources.
Employ strategies to promote workplace safety and health in the sterile processing areas.
Identifies flow barriers both internal and external to the clinical operation and review Risk Management events consistently to identify opportunities for improvement.
Conducts departmental audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines as related to CSPD.
Communicate the identified plan for sterile processing services to internal and external stakeholders.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the CSPD strategic plan toward achieving desired outcomes.
Guide quality improvement of sterile processing services using key indicators.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve sterile processing services.
Support and integrate current evidence into sterile processing services.
Use human and material resources efficiently to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective sterile processing services.
Provide guidance and coordinate education and competency verification activities for sterile processing personnel regarding professional guidelines, recommended practices, and regulatory and accreditation standards pertinent to sterile processing services along with the CSPD Manager.
Assist the CSPD Manager with maintaining records to document ongoing educational and competency verification activities of sterile processing personnel.
Manage sterile processing services operationally and fiscally.
Manage assigned projects skillfully. Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to sterile processing services team, acting as a resource.
Assist CSPD Manager with ensuring that sufficient sterile processing services team members, equipment, and supplies are available.
Ensure sterile processing services team member compliance with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification
Preferred:
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
Certified Endoscope Reprocessing (CER)
Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL)
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
