Position Summary

The Foreman - Traffic Signals leads a specialized crew in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead traffic signals, poles, pedestrian features, and related electrical and mechanical traffic control devices. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of electrical systems, construction plans, safety standards, and team management.

Your Role

• Lead your crew to install traffic signal poles, overhead signals, and related parts.

• Understand project plans and make sure the work is done correctly.

• Check work areas before, during, and after jobs to ensure quality and safety.

• Work with the Superintendent to get the materials, tools, and crew needed to avoid delays.

• Drive the crew and tools to job sites as needed.

• Fill out daily and weekly reports like timesheets and production logs.

• Help with hiring, training, and managing your crew.

• Attend weekly meetings to discuss work progress.

• Check equipment with operators, keep it clean, and report repairs to the Equipment Manager.

• Keep company vehicles clean and follow all company rules.

• Make sure your crew follows all safety rules and wears the right safety gear (PPE).

• Lead weekly safety talks and handle safety concerns on the job.

• Help with crew performance reviews and give feedback.

• Approve time-off requests, report accidents, and handle discipline if needed.

• Track and submit crew hours using the iPad system.

• Work professionally with inspectors, contractors, and team members.

• Take on additional tasks as assigned by management.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Minimum of four years of related experience in traffic signal installation or a similar field.

• Valid Texas Driver's License required.

• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and construction plans.

• Proficient in basic mathematical operations.

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

• Demonstrates leadership, problem-solving skills, and initiative in managing schedules, materials, and equipment needs.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Consistent and timely attendance with flexibility to work overtime and varying schedules as needed.

Physical Requirements

This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, often at heights, and includes physical tasks such as lifting to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Must have the ability to operate hand tools, power equipment, and heavy machinery safely. The job also involves repetitive motion, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to meet the physical demands of a fast-paced construction environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed, overnight or out of town stay may be required.
