Mueller Water Products: Director of Sales - Intelligent Water Solutions

We are looking for a Director of Sales - Intelligent Water Solutions, primarily for the U.S. and Canada to drive growth of our Technology products, to include: Echologics® leak detection and monitoring products, ePulse® pipeline condition assessment services, i2O® pressure monitoring and Hydro-Guard® flushing systems, and distribution system assessment services. This Director role will have leadership quota responsibility for all the referenced products in the U.S. and Canada through the assigned sales team and dotted-line oversight for international sales to standardize sales processes globally. This position will also have some direct selling responsibility. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate superior sales & leadership skills along with furthering or developing sales representatives within this newly carved-out role.
Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Sales & Marketing with a dotted line to VP of Smart Water Infrastructure, the successful candidate will have leadership to provide vision and planning for direct reports to uncover and nurture sales opportunities and work with channel partner leadership including distributors, manufacturer's representatives, value-added re-sellers, engineers and other Mueller sales channels to close sales. Through a combination of technology evangelization, networking, and the use of solutions selling methodology for aligning our offerings with customer needs, the Director of Sales - Intelligent Water Solutions will further Mueller Water Products as the leading provider of solutions for aging water infrastructure and non-revenue water problems. These results will be achieved through the assigned sales teams as well as a small portion of direct sales designed to gain full understanding of the sales processes, similar to direct reports. In addition, the position will involve 50% +/- travel for meetings with clients & mentoring sales team members.
Responsibilities for the position include:
Overall sales leadership responsibility for sales targets for the overseen product lines, by achieving growth results through sales management and representatives
Ownership of a small portion of direct sales for first-hand knowledge of strategies and directives being implemented for assigned groups.
Developing and Executing a Commercial Strategy for the product portfolio in partnership with the Product Management team.
Extensive travel throughout the U.S. and Canada, with a travel target of 50%. A small amount of international travel may be required.
Understanding clients' needs, and designing solutions with Mueller technologies and services
Establishing and maintaining relationships with leadership-level customers, agents, distributors & other Mueller sales channels
Mentoring and developing the assigned Sales personnel
Providing negotiating and closing assistance with large orders and/or highly visible sales
Representing product lines via attending conferences, involvement in industry organizations related to our technology solutions, ensuring the publishing of technical papers and case studies among led teams, etc.
Stay abreast of and communicate to sales and marketing competitor changes, new strategies, pricing, introduction of new products, or changes in existing products.

Position Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or other relevant fields of study
Experience selling to the water market
Technical experience in pressure management, non-revenue water management, water loss analysis, leak detection, asset management, or pipeline condition assessment (or willingness to learn. Must have excellent technical aptitude)
Proven track record of exceeding established sales quotas and/or technical experience
Minimum 10 years of work experience in technical sales and/or sales management roles
Critical competencies: Presentation Skills, Learning on the Fly, Interpersonal Savvy, Listening, Organizational Agility, Drive for Results
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Trained and proficient in solutions selling methodology
IoT (Internet of Things, cellular network, and/or machine-to-machine experience a plus

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday. Work hours will vary based on customer hours. Evening customer meetings may be required during sales travel. This position is salaried exempt and does not qualify for overtime pay.
