Job Summary
Are you passionate about Graphic Design or creating engaging PowerPoint presentations? The Department of English is seeking a candidate to assist with various tasks as outlined below. While the selected individual may not be responsible for all the duties listed, we are specifically looking for someone with a strong interest in some of the areas described.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Administrative Assistant for Undergraduate Studies to assist with various project-based tasks.
Researches and writes content for a monthly electronic newsletter, an annual newsletter, and promotional materials.
Creates flyers and posters to publicize departmental events and courses.
Designs short PowerPoint presentations on the major or BA/MA degrees for faculty to use in their classes.
Compiles information for the monthly newsletter, including graduate student and faculty presentations, creative readings, achievements, and publications.
Writes short profiles (300-500 words) of faculty members, recent publications, and innovative courses for newsletters.
Uses software tools (likely Salesforce Marketing Cloud) to assemble newsletter information efficiently (no prior experience required).
Assists in preparing and publishing an annual newsletter (pdf format) by March 2025.
Contributes research and writing skills to ensure content is well-crafted and engaging for the target audience.
Collaborates with team members to ensure timely distribution of newsletters and promotional materials to the graduate student and faculty listservs.
Demonstrates creativity in designing promotional materials and contributing to the overall visual appeal of newsletters and flyers.
Maintains flexibility in hours worked, with a maximum of 10 hours per week depending on availability and departmental needs.

Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Indiana University.

Proficient communication skills

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
