Our Team



Urgent care, sometimes known as walk-in care, fast care, or express care, is a convenient option for patients 18 months and older who require timely medical care, but the situation is not an emergency. Because patients typically come to us when they aren't feeling their best, it is incredibly important to us that our staff members strive to provide the compassion and emotional support our patients need.



The Opportunity



We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our team floating between our Urgent Care locations in Amherst, Northampton, Southampton, and Greenfield, MA. This position will be predominately located at 170 University Dr, Amherst, MA 01002, but there are expectations to float to our other Urgent Care practices in the Pioneer Valley for various coverages purposes. These other locations are:


  • 12 College Highway in Southampton, MA 01073

  • 489 Bernardston Road in Greenfield, MA 01301

  • 30 Locust Street in Northampton, MA 01060 (on Cooley Dickinson Hospital campus)

The typical schedule will be Monday-Friday 7:30am- 4:30pm (staggered), with occasional weekend/holiday coverage as needed. This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously to the top of your education/certification while also functioning as part of collaborative teams. The ideal candidate profile is an experienced, adaptable Medical Assistant who is confident in their clinical abilities and genuinely enjoys variety.



Responsibilities:



  • Direct patient care duties

  • Obtain vital signs and blood specimens

  • Assist providers in performing invasive and non-invasive procedures

  • Perform point of care testing on patients

  • Perform occupational medicine services


Indirect patient care duties



  • Check-in and register patients

  • Process referrals

  • Order and stock clinical supplies and patient education materials

  • Transport patients and specimens as needed

  • Monitor the environment of care

  • Perform administrative tasks as needed

The position requirements include organizational skills with attention to detail, thoroughness, practical decision-making, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork.


This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.



Qualifications

Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association required

  • 1 year technical/vocational training school program or 1-3 years' experience as a medical assistant or EMT-B certification required

  • CMA, AAMA, RMA, CNMA, or CCMA Medical Assistant certification preferred
