SA-TECH currently supports the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWCAD) Naval Air Systems Command, and the NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field Divisions by providing rapid organic engineering, prototyping, reverse-engineering, environmental testing, antenna repairs and life-cycle extensions, and production capabilities.
We are currently looking to hire a Machinist, Maintenance at our St. Inigoes, MD facilities to operate (and program) Computer Numerical Control (CNC) mill and lathe machines as well as their more conventional counterparts.
The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned as well):
Operate and program CNC mill & lathe machines, as well as operate conventional mill & lathe machines;.
Develop and produce unique tools.
Implement geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices.
Maintain proficiency in the latest CAD/CAM (ex: MasterCam) capabilities through formal and informal company-provided training.
Work collaboratively with customers to understand customer requirements, developing machining options, and translating customer requirements into functional hardware.
Actively train & mentor Apprentice Machinists and other junior shop personnel as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Follow and enforce all safety standards within the Machine Shop.
Fabricate unconventional, one-of-a-kind items, systems, or apparatus in support of experimental project test articles.
Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, test plans, and aviation technical publications.
Must work well with others, as part of a team.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on assigned machines, as well as maintenance of tool inventories and procurement of equipment, supplies, tools, and consumables as required.
Other tasking, as required to support customer requirements.
Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary.
Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120.
Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
Overtime is a requirement of this position.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills:
High school education or equivalent.
Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
Mix of conventional and CNC machining experience, along with knowledge of MasterCam or other common CAD/CAM programs required.
Minimum of three (3) years of machining experience as a Journeyman Level Machinist.
Full command of various machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and plating.
An in-depth knowledge of materials including, but not limited to, carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, composites, and fiberglass.
Skilled in mathematics required for machinists, also the ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial caliper, and all other measuring devices required by the Machinist Trade.
Forklift experience and/or 3D printing experience a plus.
Ability to train fellow employees on machine shop equipment and operations.
Current Maryland Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
