The Tax Analyst Senior supports the Tax Team with financial reporting, tax compliance and planning functions. Delivers a full range of accounting and tax services in compliance with laws and regulations. Monitor current and impending changes to tax regulations and make the appropriate updates to policies and strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal and state income/franchise tax returns for various entities and jurisdictions.
Assist the third-party tax advisor with annual income tax compliance process by providing necessary support and documentation, answering questions, and processing final returns for submission.
Assist with the preparation of income tax provision and tax account reconciliations.
Forecast quarterly income tax estimates for purposes of determining tax payments/distributions needed for federal and state and process necessary payments.
Respond to notices from various tax authorities regarding federal and state tax issues and maintain log of notice status.
Prepare monthly sales and use tax returns for all jurisdictions.
Assist in responding to income and sales tax audits.
Review and maintenance of financial records in QuickBooks for various shareholder entities, including preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
Provide analytical and tax research support and assist with special tax projects as necessary.
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Currently offering a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home, unless job duties require otherwise.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 3 to 5 years' experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with preparation of tax returns for pass-through entities, trusts and individuals.
Demonstrated proficient use of MS Office programs (advanced knowledge of Excel required).
Ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem solving/management skills.
Interpersonal skills necessary to interface with shareholders, outside service providers and non-tax business partners to gather information and convey tax and investment matters.
Detail-oriented and ability to adapt to working on multiple tasks with strict deadlines; effectively manage priorities. Flexibility to deal with last minute changes and requirements.
Planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate workload around multiple assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (or working towards eligible hours for CPA candidate) or Masters Degree.
Experience with CCH Axcess and QuickBooks.
Familiarity with online tax research tools and the ability to interpret and apply applicable tax laws.
