Location: Timken, American Roller Bearing, Morganton, NC.

Job Type: Full-Time.

Shift: Day Shift.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM.

Pay Range: $20.49 to $22.03 per hour.

Position Summary:

The CNC Lathe Operator plays a key role in manufacturing precision bearings by operating and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes. This position requires technical expertise in setting up, programming, and running CNC machines to produce high-quality components that meet stringent specifications. The operator ensure optimal performance of equipment, maintains quality standards, and adheres to production schedules while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Reviews blueprints, shop travelers, or U.E. instructions to determine machining tasks, dimensional requirements, setup specifications, and operational needs.
  • Prepares and installs necessary jaws, tooling, and inserts on the lathe.
  • Adjusts EIA programming or creates custom programs to modify cut dimensions, speeds, feeds, tool positions, and program stops as needed.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of the first-run piece, verifying dimensions such as O.D., I.D., width, undercut size, radius, groove width and depth, roundness, angles, and other specifications using micrometers and precision gauges.
  • Completes and maintains required documentation and records throughout the machining process.
  • Ensures a clean and organized workspace, maintaining the machine by emptying hoppers, refilling coolant tanks, safely stacking parts, and checking fluid levels and filters.
  • Adheres to all PPE requirements and safety protocols.
  • Operates hoists and material handling equipment appropriately.
  • May oversee and operate two machines simultaneously to optimize productivity.
  • Capable of interpreting and analyzing programs to identify and apply necessary modifications.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
  • Must be willingto work required overtime.

Preferred Qualification and Skills:


  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Strong foundational math skills, including proficiency with decimals and fractions.
  • Skills in using standard tools, as well as reading gauges, micrometers, and blueprints.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

All associates are required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, and slip resistant, steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
