Duration: 6 months


Time Commitment: 15-20 hours/week with flexibility to accommodate intern's schedule.

Purpose



The Community Engagement Intern will support CWS in raising awareness about issues affecting migrants and refugees through social media advocacy, developing resources and training materials for caseworkers, and coordinating community outreach events. This is an excellent opportunity to use and develop skills in areas such as social media, event planning, public speaking, and nonprofit community engagement.



Responsibilities





  • Create social media content highlighting migrant/refugee stories and organization's services.

  • Collaborate on social media campaigns to raise awareness and support.

  • Develop/update comprehensive resources page for caseworkers.

  • Design and deliver training sessions for caseworkers on utilizing resources.

  • Plan and execute community engagement events.

  • Assist with outreach efforts to promote organization's services and events.




Qualifications





  • Passion for social justice issues and migrant/refugee rights.

  • Proficient in social media platforms and content creation.

  • Organized and detail-oriented.




Special Requirements




Internship Chain of Command

  • The intern will report directly to the Community Engagement Specialist. Approval is required before executing tasks at the request of other departments/employees. This ensures the intern's time and activities remain structured and aligned with learning objectives.


Feedback and Evaluations

  • Midterm evaluation meeting to discuss what is working well and areas for improvement.

  • Regular 1:1 check-ins with Community Engagement Specialist to provide feedback and guidance.

  • Final exit interview where the intern can give input on the experience and supervisor can provide performance feedback.
