Position Summary:

The Department of History at the University of South Florida invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Ancient Greek History from a broad, comparative Mediterranean perspective, with a focus on any period from the beginning of the Iron Age through the Hellenistic era. PhD in History or Classics is required. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both their area of specialization and in broad surveys and the general education curriculum. Salary is negotiable. The appointment start date is August 7, 2025. Review of applications will begin on November 29, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in the field of History or Classics with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be considered, but the degree must be conferred by the appointment start date. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and inclusive teaching and scholarship. Expertise with digital methods and/or material culture is welcomed, but not required.
