Position Summary:
The Wang Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology is currently accepting applications for postdoctoral researchers interested in exploring the molecular mechanisms of ischemia-reperfusion in graft dysfunction and kidney diseases.The primary goal is to identify potential therapeutic targets that can enhance renal function and contribute to long-term graft survival after organ transplantation.
Our research involves the use of transgenic rodent models, rodent and preclinical animal organ transplantation models (pigs), and a diverse range of techniques, including singlecell RNA sequencing, real-time PCR, reporter assays, immunoblotting, IHC/ICC, cell cultures, and big data analysis of human specimens.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and creative individual with expertise in both the theoretical and practical aspects of rodent models, molecular biology,
biochemistry, and cell biology. Interested applicants are encouraged to upload their CV, a concise cover letter, and provide the names of three referees.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Participate in project planning and development of research protocols in biological science disciplines such as molecular biology, physiology, pathology (including
mammalian cell culture, RT-PCR, immunoblots, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, kinase activity assays) while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
• We utilize rodents as research models for human disease. Therefore, basicresearch animal experience is required, including blood sampling, post-mortem
tissue isolation and compound administration by garage, I.P. I.M, and I.V. injection, mouse husbandry and animal microsurgeries. The candidate is expected to be able to perform surgery on animals for experimental purposes including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative procedures.
• Maintains logs and records of laboratory techniques, observations, findings, and results for use in scientific publications and grant submission. Performs analysis
of data using statistical software.
• Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance
with relevant federal guidelines.
• The candidate will also be expected to facilitate the ordering of general labsupplies, perform basic laboratory housekeeping duties, organize, and
inventory reagents, and facilitate equipment utilization and up-keep.
Minimum:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field with appropriate experience and training study of animal physiology, specifically related to in vivo and in vitro renal and cardiovascular models. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.
PREFERRED:
• Ph.D. or MD/PhD. with experience in micro-surgery is highly desirable.
• Research experience in Western blot, Single-Cell RNA-Seq, proteomics, primary cell culture,
nanotechnology and confocal imaging are a plus.
OTHER:
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English
