POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Molecular Medicine seeks candidates for a non-tenure track research assistant professor position who uses structural biology-based approaches, such as X-ray crystallography and molecular docking, to facilitate the drug discovery efforts that complement the department's existing strengths in infectious, neurological, and oncological diseases. Successful candidates for this position are expected to have extensive training and experience in structural biology and drug discovery, as well as to operate the Structural Biology core facilities (X-ray crystallography, SPR, etc) and establish collaborations with other labs at USF. They are also expected to establish and/or maintain a nationally recognized research program funded by federal and private grants that leads to significant manuscripts in respected scientific journals. Successful candidates will be offered institutional salary support commensurate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Will operate the Structural Biology core facilities (X-ray crystallography, SPR, etc) to facilitate drug discovery projects and establish collaborations with other labs at USF. Will establish and/or maintain a nationally recognized research program funded by federal and private grants that leads to significant manuscripts in respected scientific journals.
• Will be responsible for teaching graduate (MS and PhD) and medical students (MD). In addition, will train and mentor students in the lab.
• Will be expected to serve on department and college service committees as assigned. In addition, should serve the scientific community by reviewing manuscripts and grants and participate in scientific societies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
• Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
